Avdellero is a village in the district of Larnaca that is entirely Greek, located around 8 kilometers from Athienou and 16 kilometers from Larnaca. It was constructed at a height of roughly 135 meters. It is connected to the north-west with the village of Athienou, to the north-east with the village of Trulloi (about 5 km) and to the south-east with the village of Aradippou (about 7 km) and through it to the city of Larnaca.
The once 30-inhabitant tiny town has grown into a modern community. The village is adorned with sidewalk-lined streets, parks, squares, and old homes featuring Mesaoria's distinctive architecture. Lowland Cyprus is known for its disappearing unique architecture. Avdellero is one of the few remaining villages that feature this remarkable architecture and kept it. This construction is extremely uncommon to be found in the villages nowadays.
Since Avdellero is not seen on medieval maps and because the area's land is barren and was mostly utilized for livestock purposes, it was likely first populated during the Turkish occupation. The area's original residents were likely some shepherds who built their homes. Another story claims that it coexisted with the Morothini hamlet during the Venetian era. From Avdellero begins a section of the European path E4, 30 kilometers long and ends at Panagia Stazousa. It is a great path to take long walks while taking-in and enjoying the amazing views of the village’s landscape.
