Agrotourism is becoming popular in Cyprus according to Tourism Deputy

Kostas Koumis, the deputy minister of tourism, draws attention to a growing trend in agrotourism and reports a significant rise in the number of people staying overnight in agrotourism accommodations. Overnight stays increased to 166,293 in 2023 compared to 153,196 in 2022.

Speaking on 15 April, Koumis stressed the importance of the Deputy Ministry's incentive plans that promote mountainous, rural, and arid areas in order to encourage countryside tourism. He made this statement during the 18th Annual General Meeting of the Cyprus Agrotourism Company in Platres.

Koumis expressed satisfaction with the growing global interest in agrotourism, which is mirrored in Cyprus He highlighted that the number of overnight stays in traditional buildings has increased, from 153,196 in 2022 to 166,293 in 2023.

In addition to previously announced incentive plans and current promotion efforts in important foreign markets, Koumis highlights the active efforts being made by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism to advance agrotourism in Cyprus.

Koumis added that improving rural infrastructure and the general standard of living for rural residents is a high priority for the government.
