Summer ferry service between Cyprus and Greece is resuming

According to a report released on Friday, the much awaited ferry service between Greece and Cyprus is getting ready to resume this summer. It is expected to begin operations on May 29 and remain operational until September 3. This will be the ferry service's third consecutive year of operation.

The Cypriot-flagged ferry Daleela will only dock in Limassol port for all 22 scheduled journeys in 2024 this year. This is in contrast to the previous year, when the routes were alternated between Limassol and Larnaca and Piraeus.

On April 17, reservations for the ferry journeys will be accepted. It is expected that ticket costs won't change much.

The ferry service's operator, Scandro Holdings, will provide all the information during a news conference on Tuesday.

Money was the main factor in the decision to simplify operations via Limassol this year. According to the research, there will be much fewer cruise ships docking in Limassol this year, which will result in competitive pricing. Meanwhile, the increasing traffic at the port of Larnaca has created logistical issues.

The onboard facilities will be similar to those from prior years, including cabins of different grades and "airline" seats for those who would rather be in an open environment. In addition, the ferry will have a restaurant, two coffee shops, spacious lounges, and even a casino.

Data from operations the previous year showed a sizable volume of both passengers and vehicles. More than 2,400 vehicles, 250 pets, and more than 7,400 passengers travelled the route between May and September of 2023.

With the capacity to accommodate up to 400 passengers and more than 200 vehicles per trip, the ferry will be making 22 journeys this summer: the first one on May 29, the remaining routes are scheduled to run five in June, eight in July, seven in August, and one in September.
