A new "Digital Citizen" app, developed in collaboration with Greece, will be available in Cyprus on December 5. This app allows users to issue and store digital versions of ID cards, driving licenses, and vehicle roadworthiness certificates. President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, announced the app's launch at the "2nd Greece – Cyprus Summit | Advancing Together" in Nicosia on Wednesday. The summit was organized by Boussias Cyprus in cooperation with Invest Cyprus, under the auspices of the Republic of Cyprus and Greece's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In his speech, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis emphasized the growing synergies between Cyprus and Greece, with a focus on building a strong, national business hub in Eastern Europe. He highlighted the two countries' strategic position and the opportunities for deeper economic cooperation.

Christodoulides also noted the positive developments in the Cyprus economy, with a projected growth rate of 3.8% in 2024, the third highest in the Eurozone. He pointed to significant progress in digital services, with a 16.3% improvement in digitization, surpassing the EU average. This progress is partly due to Greece’s support in enhancing Cyprus's digital infrastructure.

The new app is one of the key outcomes of the ongoing cooperation between Cyprus and Greece. It will initially offer digital ID cards, driving licenses, and vehicle certificates, with plans for further digital documents in the future. The President described this initiative as a "tangible result" of the two countries' collaboration that will improve citizens' daily lives.

The summit also discussed expanding cooperation in various sectors, including labor, environment, research, and innovation. The ongoing collaboration between Cyprus and Greece continues to strengthen, bringing tangible benefits for both economies.
