Cyprus has introduced a seasonal pharmacy scheme allowing selected pharmacies in tourist areas to operate extended hours during the summer months. Under the new arrangement, participating outlets can remain open daily until 11 p.m., aiming to better serve both residents and the increased number of visitors during peak season.

The scheme is primarily focused on high-demand regions such as Famagusta, Limassol and Larnaca, where the population rises significantly in summer. Pharmacies joining the programme must meet specific criteria, including a temporary winter closure period and proper licensing, ensuring that services remain balanced and accessible throughout the year.

Around 15 pharmacies are expected to operate under the scheme this year, helping to cover seasonal demand without affecting the regular operation of pharmacies in other areas. The initiative is designed to improve access to essential healthcare services in busy tourist locations, while maintaining consistent service availability across the island.
