New Larnaca–Dhekelia road opens to traffic

The new Larnaca–Dhekelia road is now open to traffic, bringing a major upgrade to one of the area's busiest routes. The €14.8 million project introduces a wider and more modern road network designed to improve safety, accessibility and everyday travel for residents and visitors.

The new road stretches for around 3.25 kilometres and features four traffic lanes, dedicated cycle paths, modern sidewalks, landscaped green areas, bus stops, parking spaces and four roundabouts. To improve pedestrian safety, 22 signal-controlled crossings have also been installed, making it easier and safer for people to move around the area.

Although some service roads and landscaping works are still expected to be completed later this year, the opening of the main road marks an important milestone for Larnaca. The upgraded route is expected to improve traffic flow, support the area's continued growth and enhance access to one of the city's most popular coastal destinations.
