Tourist arrivals in Cyprus declined 2.7% in April but show 1.7% growth in first quarter

With 333,563 visitors overall in April 2024 as opposed to 342,736 in April 2023, there was a minor 2.7% decrease in tourist arrivals in Cyprus. The total number of tourists during the first quarter of 2024 showed a positive trend, with 1.7% more visitors from January to April, notwithstanding this monthly decline.

According to Deputy Minister of tourist Kostas Koumis, the data illustrates Cyprus's adaptability and capacity to achieve its tourist goals in spite of a number of challenges.

According to the Cyprus Statistical Service, with 35.3% (117,902) of the total arrivals in April 2024 coming from the United Kingdom, that country was the top source of visitors. Israel (10.7%) (35,673), Poland (7.6%) (25,250), Germany (6.7%) (22,510), and Greece (3.9%) (13,056) came next.

The majority of visitors in April 2024, about 82.1%, came for vacation purposes. Meanwhile, 9.4% visited friends or relatives, and 8.3% traveled for business. Comparatively, in April 2023, 79.3% of visitors were vacationers, 14.5% came to see friends or family, and 6.0% visited for business reasons.
