A total of 56 beaches and two marinas across Cyprus have received the Blue Flag distinction for 2026, highlighting the quality of bathing waters, coastal management and efforts to maintain clean and safe seaside areas.

The awards were presented during an event in Ayia Napa, with the recognised locations representing a significant part of the island’s bathing areas. The distinction is awarded based on strict criteria covering water quality, environmental management, safety, accessibility, visitor information and the overall organisation of coastal facilities.

The Blue Flag programme is recognised internationally as a symbol of high standards for beaches and marinas. Beyond clean waters, the award reflects wider efforts to protect coastal ecosystems, promote responsible use of seaside areas and raise environmental awareness among residents and visitors.
