Major lighting improvements are progressing along Larnaca’s seafront, with works at Mackenzie Beach nearing completion and a second phase set to begin soon at Finikoudes. The project forms part of wider efforts to enhance public spaces and improve the visitor experience along some of the city’s most popular coastal areas.

According to municipal authorities, the installation of new streetlights at Mackenzie Beach is approximately two-thirds complete and is expected to be finished within the coming days. Similar upgrades along Athinon Avenue at Finikoudes are scheduled to begin in mid-June, bringing enhanced illumination and improved visibility to the area.

The new lighting system will operate using solar energy through integrated photovoltaic technology, combining improved efficiency with environmental benefits. The upgrades are part of an ongoing programme aimed at modernising public infrastructure, strengthening safety in outdoor spaces and supporting the sustainable development of the city.
