Arsos is a village that belongs to the district of Limassol and is located 45 kilometers from Paphos and 40 kilometers from Limassol. It is also one of the largest wine-producing settlements in Cyprus. It is situated 1092 meters above sea level on the Laona mountain slopes, with a clear view of the Diarizos River Valley and the Paphos Sea in the distance. Two different versions exist for its name. One claims that name originated in the village's location, the Holy Alsos (grove) of the goddess Aphrodite, while the other claims that it was one of the four cities Ptolemy Philadelphos established in Arsinoe's honor.
