Revenue from tourism grows by 6% in September year on year

Tourism revenue in September 2024 saw a 6% increase compared to the same month last year, highlighting a positive trend for the sector. Additionally, revenue for the first nine months of 2024 rose by 4.9% compared to the corresponding period in 2023.

According to data from the Passenger Survey conducted by the Statistical Service, September 2024 tourism revenue amounted to €454.1 million, up from €428.4 million in September 2023. For the January-September period, total tourism revenue reached €2,575.9 million, a significant rise from €2,456.1 million during the same timeframe last year.

Spending breakdown

In September 2024, the average expenditure per tourist stood at €891.29, marking a 1.4% increase from €879.13 in September 2023.

The United Kingdom remained the leading source of tourists, accounting for 35.5% of total arrivals. Visitors from the UK spent an average of €112.35 per day. Israel, the second largest market with a 10.7% share, recorded higher daily spending, with tourists averaging €150.63. Meanwhile, visitors from Poland, representing 8.3% of arrivals, spent €88.96 per day on average.
