Larnaca is set to see a major wave of development in 2026, with six projects worth a total of €50 million planned for the Livadia and Oroklini districts. The initiatives focus on improving sustainable mobility, education, municipal services, roads, and historic and cultural sites. A large portion of the budget is dedicated to the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan, which includes 11 km of bus lanes and cycle paths, upgrades to 30 km of main roads, one-way street adjustments, green corridor creation, and sidewalk improvements.

Significant investment is also planned for education and municipal services. A €13 million facility for the School of Marine Sciences and Sustainable Development will be built near Mackenzie, featuring classrooms, labs, offices, and advanced IT infrastructure. Meanwhile, €9 million is earmarked for relocating and consolidating municipal offices on the site of the former Larnaca hospital, including restoration of existing buildings, construction of new facilities, a public square, green areas, and parking spaces.

Other projects include the €3.6 million renovation of Archbishop Makarios III Avenue, which will improve roads, sidewalks, utilities, lighting, and parking; the €2.4 million upgrade of Oroklini’s historic road network, enhancing accessibility and safety; and the €2.3 million restoration of Ayios Ioannis church and surrounding area, including a new central square, wider pavements, road upgrades, improved accessibility, and increased greenery. All works will be implemented by the department of public works.
