Advanced helicopters ready to support Cyprus year-round

A new generation of multi-purpose helicopters has begun operating in Cyprus, expanding the island's emergency response capabilities throughout the year. The aircraft are designed to support a wide range of missions, including aerial firefighting, search and rescue, medical evacuations and emergency assistance.

The modern helicopters offer improved performance, greater flexibility and advanced technology, allowing emergency teams to respond quickly to different situations across the island. They will also support wildfire response during the summer months, helping protect communities and natural landscapes during periods of increased fire risk.

Before entering full service, flight crews will complete specialised training to ensure the helicopters are ready for year-round operations. The addition of the new aircraft represents an important step in strengthening emergency preparedness and supporting faster, more effective responses whenever they are needed.
