Cyprus ranked second in the EU for social media participation
On this island, social media is so prevalent. With one of the highest user rates in the world with 1,282,100 Facebook users, Cyprus has the second highest rate of social media participation on the continent after Denmark, according to Eurostat.
With an engagement rate of 91%, Denmark took first place and boasted the greatest percentage of social media activity among EU members. France, Germany, and Italy, on the other hand, recorded the lowest percentages of social network engagement, at 44, 49, and 53 percent, respectively.
Cyprus's size and population make it stand out as a single region at the regional level. In spite of this, 224 out of 273 areas in the EU reported having more than 50% of their population on social networks.
Young people find a way of connection through social media. On the one hand, social media is essential for connection, creativity, education, and communication—especially in the globalized world of today. However, these platforms can also encourage addictive behaviors, disinformation, and cyberbullying, all of which can harm mental health, particularly in younger children.
