Cyprus sees 94.2% household internet access in 2024

Over the last decade, internet access in Cypriot households has grown significantly by 26%, reaching 94.92% in 2024, up from 68.64% in 2014. This increase is part of a larger trend across Europe, where 94% of households now have internet access. The Netherlands and Luxembourg have the highest connectivity, with nearly 100% of households online, while countries like Greece and Croatia have the lowest rates, just above 86%.

The study also highlighted changes in how Europeans communicate. While 80% of EU residents aged 16-74 still use email, Cyprus is among countries where instant messaging has overtaken email as the preferred method of communication. Other countries experiencing this shift include Austria, Spain, and Italy.

Additionally, the survey looked at online behavior, including how people search for goods and services and their consumption of digital news through newspapers and magazines. The findings reflect the growing digital engagement across the continent, especially in communication and media consumption.
