Famagusta tourism board targets German visitors

With the primary goal of encouraging German tourists to discover the attractions of their area, representatives from the Famagusta Tourism Board (Etap) and local business owners recently left their mark at the "ITB BERLIN 2024" international tourism expo, which was held last week.

As the largest market in Europe, the German market plays a crucial role in the tourist industry in Cyprus, as noted by Etap official Giorgos Kafkalias. He also highlighted the market's potential for significant growth in the years to come.

According to a statement issued by Etap, despite the economic challenges facing Germany, there's a sense of cautious optimism regarding tourist arrivals, with expectations hovering around last year's levels, possibly with a slight dip.

Etap reported keen interest from German travel agencies in various specialized forms of tourism, including hiking, cycling, diving, gastronomy, and agritourism, in addition to the traditional beach tourism typically associated with summer months.

During their discussions, Etap emphasized the diverse offerings of the entire Famagusta district, showcasing a range of activities suitable for families with children, young couples, and older visitors alike.

According to Kafkalias, "While Famagusta offers some of Cyprus's finest and most beautiful beaches, with international awards, there's a wealth of experiences available to be explored throughout the year." The promotion also highlighted a mobile app that provides virtual tours featuring images and detailed information about every point of interest in the Famagusta area.

Etap is steadfast in its commitment to taking part in significant international tourism expos all year long in order to highlight the area's attractions and support the Deputy Ministry of Tourism efforts to promote Cyprus globally.
