Tourist arrivals records a 7.6% increase in December 2024

In December 2024, Cyprus saw an increase in both tourist arrivals and the return of its residents from trips abroad. This report highlights the growth in tourism and provides insights into the travel patterns of Cypriot residents, revealing key trends and data for the month of December as well as the entire year.

In December 2024, tourist arrivals in Cyprus increased by 7.6%, reaching 133,063 compared to 123,630 in December 2023. For the full year (January – December 2024), the total number of tourists was 4,040,200, marking a 5.1% rise from 2023.

Additionally, the return of Cypriot residents from abroad rose by 9.3%, with 168,022 residents returning in December 2024, up from 153,736 in the same month the previous year. The main countries of return were Greece, the UK, and Poland. Most residents traveled for holidays (65.7%), followed by business (16.3%) and studies (17.6%).

The data is sourced from the Passengers Survey at Larnaca and Paphos airports and from various administrative sources. It includes all travelers passing through controlled areas of Cyprus, excluding illegal entries.
